A small chronicle of life at the beach. Where we find simple pleasures in the everyday. Here are a few of those magic moments, that made me stop and linger a moment longer. Captured in a still frame of a photograph.
A Chicken, ferns and hellebores. A bright yellow Calendula like the sun. Chickens never want to lay eggs in their hen house, but always venturing to the ferns out back.
The frost of autumns mornings cling to the edges of purple clovers. The heart shaped leaves and the aubergine color drew me close.
I am always drawn down a pathway through a forest. A foot trail always calls, the wood nymphs and fairies singing their lulling songs. Where do the paths lead, I must know!
A local road full of trees with beautiful pink blossoms. Rolling along on a bicycle, smelling the sweet scent of Spring on the air, and birdsong wafting through the breezes.
A story on Robins:
How the emergence of Spring is articulated by the presence of our dearest friend, the Robin. With a red breast and bright yellow beak, songs of love and longing speaks forth of their breath. I was caught. Captured in the rolling and lulling song of a male Robin. Calling out from his perch, a song so beautiful which stopped me in my hustle of this daily grind.
I took to the stoop, stilling my body and closing my eyes to take in the beauty being woven through the air. As he sang, so sweetly at first, full of hope and longing and all the love he has to offer. Here I am! Here I am!
As the song sang on, unheard by his fellow species, it became laced with frenzy. Panicked. Why was no one hearing him?
My heart raced for this small bird and I wished I could take away his sorrow and return his love.
But, alas, I am not a bird.
He eventually flew off in search of a better perch, and I know he had found a mate somewhere other than that branch that formed over our backyard.
