Part of why I love taking commissions is for the stories that are shared along with the articles. A friend of mine had her grandparents' old wedding bands and would not wear as they were.
Vintage pink pill boxes found along my travels are perfect for delicate earrings.
The story she had shared of her grandpa who was a farmer across the sea from where we are today. He had saved his pennies to pick out the perfect ring for his wife to be. Something she had said was not a daily occurrence. Lots of love were in those bands from beginning to end.
The accent to the stones setting were these beautiful art deco style. There was no way I could just melt that into no more. Another note, I currently do not have a way to tell the type of metal at hand. It could have been platinum, white gold or something else. My worry was platinum and my studio set up is not on par for that quite yet. I still have some learning to do!
I cut the shank where the yellow gold met these pieces and saved most of what I could. There I was able to add ear posts and some Garnet bead through a loop in the back.
They turned out delicate and the original beauty still remained while still holding a bit of that lost love her grandparents shared. I cannot take the credit for these lovely little dangles.
Thank you M for trusting me to make something new for you from a bygone era. All the love to you.
